We’re artists and cultural magpies, Howard Ashley Storey & Honey Storey, and we’d love to share a glimpse into our collaborative practice—our ongoing collage project, STOREYBOOKLAND.

In our work, artists, musicians, actors, and characters from history (both living and dead) wander through a landscape shaped by mid-20th century pop-cultural artefacts, retro-futurism, home furnishing catalogues, and satanic sleaze.

We use playful and witty juxtapositions to both celebrate the aesthetics of bygone eras and question the hidden narratives that drive culture, all while paying homage to the figures who helped shape our own unique visual language. If you look closely, you’ll spot fictional film posters, magazines, and other invented elements that deepen the surreal world of Storeybookland.

Our collages begin life in our own archive—then we scan, digitise, colourise, and embellish them with luminous paint, foil, and other printed textures. The result is a series of meticulous constructions that might recall Peter Blake or Richard Hamilton, but with our own blown-out psychedelic palette and dense, layered storytelling.

Love,
